Dr. Amanda Paull, OD, MS, was raised outside of Richmond, VA. In 2001, she completed her undergraduate Biology degree at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA. In 2005, she obtained two degrees from the University of Alabama School of Optometry: a Masters in Vision Science and an Optometrist Doctorate. Dr. Paull then completed a one-year residency at the Hampton Veterans Affairs Hospital with a concentration on ocular disease. She enjoys providing eye care in home for each of her patients!
The exam will be filed with medical insurance (not vision). The patient may be responsible for any deductibles or copays. Vision insurance is not accepted due to extremely low reimbursement rates and the time needed for custom in-home eye exams.
For virtual online appointments, the consult will be filed to insurance but the patient is responsible if the insurance doesn't pay. In that case, the patient will be charged $60 for a new patient consult (30 minutes) and $40 for an existing patient consult (30 minutes).
For in-home eye exams, a small transportation fee is assessed to cover the cost of the optometrist bringing over 50 pounds of equipment to the patient's residence. This may be $50-$90, depending on the location such as Virginia Beach, Williamsburg, or Richmond, VA. It can be split between patients if there is more than one patient at a residence and it is waived for visits with 4 or more patients (such as in a nursing home facility). This is not billable to insurance and it is the patient's responsibility.
